Holiday family memories can be made in the oddest circumstances

It was young the night the night before - before - Christmas, and all the mice in our family, and old were stuck in the festive local guesthouse for a traditional holiday.

In the nearby Inn was a place that we had taken our children, because they eat old enough to without spilling at least half of them on the floor and sit on a Chair.

It was a grand old place - more than one hundred years old and very colonial. And we always the Inn just before Christmas has want, because it always all in wreaths decorated, tapes and candle, as something directly from the Currier and Ives.

The night of our dinner was no exception. In fact, all over New England had hidden were of several back to back blizzards, the us the feeling that we actually back into a world of Currier and Ives had strengthened. It was perfect.

As we all in the image of the large main dining room filed, was improved only by the cheerful atmosphere. Wood fire roaring in massive fireplaces and garlands of green lined up around the room.
But best of all was the atmosphere and the people.
Everyone seemed so good to go with the location. Large tables filled with families - Grandma's, Grandpa's, mothers, fathers, children, nephews, cousins. All dressed for the season in light holiday sweaters and corduroy trousers or Tweed skirts. All food, drink, talk and laugh. So happy together in this happy time of year - only have to enjoy a good time and another company.

Well almost.

As we were shown to our table, the I happen to notice that it a table with several very elegant and sophisticated people, which certainly apparently was not harmonious in the merry band. And the brief look I had of their behavior as we more than one table were removed, to indicate that they either no intention, it had seemed.

Well, none of my business. There were certainly more than enough holiday cheer even most radiates throughout the room, jaded to fill by heart. So peace on Earth and good will for all... Or so I thought.

The first order of business I decided it was me, as we, a bottle of sparkling wine on all of our children finally order at home for Christmas together for the first time for several years now my wife was naturally pleased, collect their children from the four corners of the world. Our oldest young in winter fly from LA after a two-day adventure. Our daughter finally finished with their continent hopping and nestled happily returned to Boston and our youngest son just got back from Europe.

We had our toast and started to pick up. Our daughter twenty-five-year-old was a manager at a publishing house (unfortunately for their writer PA, in the medical field, not fiction.) right in the middle of a very funny story as from nowhere out a elegantly dressed fell arm over their shoulder and a voice brittle said cut off. "You're going to have to lower your voice, you're disturbing us."

I looked up. It was one of the demanding young women from two tables below. She was next to my daughter and gloomy on them in a despicable way, since Holly Golightly, I put you on their "Dahhhling" indeed in breakfast at Tiffanys had seen.

WHA-a at?

Then woke Poppa bear. This squeamish young thing disdainfully walkways to my daughter and pretty much called it the "bleep" was a... Loudmouth?

My daughter talented, educated sat there stunned. This is a girl who had studied in Europe, was a journalist in the outback of Australia and parachuting in the Switzerland and bungee jumping in New Zealand. It is not easily intimidated. But now - she was speechless. The arrogant French deliver finished their statement was, and was returned to her table dressed. Mission accomplished. To set a different family of rubes at the right place. My neck began to warm to. I got up.

My wife half-heartedly put their hand on my arm, but it was disturbing to stop me and I was care too big, a head of steam building.

I followed the elegant young lady back in their table and UM-m-m, can only say the spirit of the father went to gently but firmly, to give them "a piece" type.

With the time I got back to our table, definitely had penetrated the atmosphere was, even though everyone is trying to make the most of it. In fact for the rest of the evening there was a steady parade of fellow diners and even waitresses and busboys, which had seen the incident and described the despicable table as one... Now, I will be in accordance with and let it in "a real bunch of idiots."

My wife will continue for the next twenty-four hours complaining that rude, arrogance had destroyed sophist our first full family reunion in three years.

But the second day, Christmas, the story began to laugh and when I children tease and laugh about the whole matter - especially their Pyrope age man, heard I realized that a dinner is only a vague pleasant memory among many pleasant holiday dinner in the old Inn, which may be on the way to one of these classic family stories. Perhaps it is that the children remember even and long time according to their age, man will laugh to Daisy push.

So, keep in mind the next time of one of the 'things' happen for you and your family to see it in this way. Maybe it's just another family memories in the making.

Best wishes!
